Ex-Chief Jim Mitchell and Lt. Brad Hoffman introduced the fifth-grade Scouts to the basics of first aid and emergency response, showing them how first responders assess a situation, care for an injured person and use specialized medical equipment.
Through demonstrations and interactive learning, the Scouts explored the importance of staying calm, recognizing when someone needs help and responding safely in an emergency. The visit connected their Scouting activities with the work of the volunteers who serve their community.
Meeting with Mitchell and Hoffman also gave the Scouts a closer look at the skills and training involved in emergency response. Alongside the practical lessons, the experience offered an opportunity to appreciate the volunteer spirit behind the community’s first responders.
