The Library Commission has appointed Deputy Director Lynn Hoffman to serve as acting library director following his departure. The system serves communities throughout Somerset County, including Warren, Watchung and Green Brook.
“I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to lead the Somerset County Library System and am proud of the things we have accomplished together,” Bromberg said. “While retirement is a big decision, this is the right time for me and my family to make a change.”
During his tenure, the library system reopened its Peapack-Gladstone branch, completed the Sanofi furniture refresh project and implemented a community-based approach to programming and events.
“Peter brought an inspiring vision to our library system that generated fresh energy and momentum among both staff and the public,” said Library Commission Chair Roberta Karpinecz.
Before joining SCLSNJ, Bromberg served as executive director of the Salt Lake City Public Library and associate director of the Princeton Public Library. His career has included efforts to expand access to library services and help libraries eliminate late fees.
The Library Commission will determine the next steps in searching for a new director and share details as they become available.
